« Photographe-auteur formé à l’ENS Louis-Lumière à Paris, Sébastien Normand s’est construit un chemin artistique entre rigueur technique et regard singulier. Installé en région marseillaise, il développe depuis plusieurs années une pratique qui explore les seuils du visible, mêlant dispositifs expérimentaux, longues marches et travail photographique en chambre grand format. Tour à tour auteur et photographe de commande, il accompagne aussi des artistes, chorégraphes et architectes, documentant leurs gestes et leurs lieux avec une attention méthodique presque scientifique. Son œuvre avance à pas lents, par séries au long cours où se rencontrent paysage, lumière faible et observation patiente. À mesure que son parcours s’affirme, son travail s’impose comme une manière de penser l’image autant qu’une manière de l’habiter. » (NDLG)
